Quad Cooperation & India
China is trying to expand its presence in the Indian Ocean region as its interests are lying in the west, including the untapped African continent.
The four-nation alliance is considered to be a countervailing force against china's devious expansionist designs in the Indo-pacific region.
The new regime in the US was being watched carefully by Indian foreign policy thinkers in relations to China. QUAD virtual summit and visit of US defence and secretary of state to Japan last month rekindle the enthusiasm in relations of four-nation cooperation. The summit was greatly successful as it moved from being a security dialogue to a solid framework. It seems QUAD will work to ensure regional defence and growth mechanism.
US State Department published a Japan-US cooperation document reaffirming alliance on climate challenges, democracy, free trade, and countering Chinese influence. US-Japan has a history of one of the strongest and trusted relationships beneficial to each other.
No doubt, under the present leadership India is successful in strengthening the ties with its counterparts. India, being a member of the QUAD, needs to strengthen and expand its ties with the US and Japan beyond formal cooperation.
Expansion on technology and investment could benefit the partnerships and enhance the mutual trust and long lasting relationship.
